When opening a bottle of wine, everyone wondered why there was a sealed tin cap at the bottle mouth? What is the role of this tin cap? Is to make the bottle look more beautiful? Or to protect cork stoppers?

A long time ago, wines were bottled and stored in cellars. The dark and humid environment in the wine cellar is particularly suitable for storing and ripening wines, but it also provides an ideal living environment for small animals and bugs. When these small animals or insects like to feed on wood, cork stoppers for wine bottles are the food of their abdomen, but the wine in the bottle suffers. Adding a sealed tin cap to the bottle can solve this problem. However, the environment of the wine cellar is improved. Under normal circumstances, no small animals or insects will appear. Therefore, this function of the tin cap seems to be unnecessary.

The second function of the bottle cap is to avoid sham alcoholism. In order to resist fake wine and protect its reputation, Rioja's high-end wines use wire mesh to wrap wine bottles so that once the wire mesh is removed, it will be cut off and it will not be able to be installed intact. Sealed tin caps also have a similar effect. If someone buys a bottle of high-end wine without a tin cap, remove the cork and drink the wine inside, and you can refill it with fake wine. The use of tin caps can suppress fake liquor in an era when the former technology was not sufficiently developed.

Sealing tin caps seem to be dispensable today, and some wineries even try not to use it again, perhaps to make the bottles look better, perhaps because of environmental protection and to reduce waste. However, only a handful of wineries do this, so most bottles on the market have tin caps.

Then, when opening a bottle, how to remove the sealed tin cap? Perhaps everyone has their own methods, but in order to make this process elegant, it is still necessary to simply learn the relevant etiquette. When opening the bottle, the tin cap can be torn open with a small knife attached to the bottle opener on the hippocampus along the leak-proof ring (circled part of the mouth of the bottle). It's best not to cut the bottle seal over the leakproof ring, because in that case, the liquor may come into contact with the bottle sealing incision and affect the taste of the wine.
